In December 2019 we held a 2 day Bayesian Adaptive Trials Workshop held at Forrest Hall, UWA and the Telethon Kids Institute in Perth. Over 50 delegates attended over the 2 days and learned about key statistical concepts including Bayesian methods and how they can be used for adaptive trials.

The first day of the workshop was run by Julie Marsh & Mark Jones, Adaptive Health Intelligence, with international guest speaker Anna McGlothlin, Berry Consultants. The focus of this workshop was to give an overview of fixed vs adaptive designs, bayesian methodology and to teach people how to use R studio to create their own clinicial trial simulator.

The second day of the workshop was run by international guest speakers Anna McGlothlin & Ben Saville, Berry Consultants. The focus of this day was on response adaptive randomisation, using Bayesian hierarchical modeling and platform trials.

Overall, we had wide participation in the workshops, with both clinician researchers and statisticians attending. A survey has been sent to attendees to help plan future workshop events for 2020, which we hope to expand to other Australian states.
